1946年ドイツ・ハンブルグ市郊外に鞄工場を設立し、現在まで70年以上の歴史を持つドイツの老舗ブランド。1978年に現行の社名であるtraveliteに社名変更し、名前の由来（travel
+ light）の通り、軽くて丈夫な機能性のある商品作りに注力。近年ではドイツ最大級の販売数を誇るブランドに成長、世界的な課題である環境問題にもいち早く取り組み、環境汚染対策や人体に害を及ぼすことのない製品作りに取り組んでいます。
